Hi! Welcome to Dragonflies in First’s new home.
When I first started blogging I just chose a name that worked with my situation. I am a first grade teacher and I have quite the collection of dragonflies in my classroom.
But then, things became a little more serious and I quickly realized but hasty naming decision didn’t show the best judgement. I was blogging about a whole lot of stuff that didn’t necessarily have anything to do with first grade, or very little to do with first grade, or something to do with just about every grade. AND nothing ever had anything to do with dragonflies.
After hearing from 3 different friends, “Oh, I thought you only shared about first grade and wrote and created exclusively 1st grade resources”, I decided I had to make a change.
First and foremost I want my kids to ENJOY school and find a lot of fun in learning. Secondly, I work to ensure that what we do in class in ENGAGING. If you follow me, you know I talk about engaging and effective a lot. They are the cornerstones to great curriculum!
So, from that Engaging Teaching was born.
It was a tough decision. Dragonflies in First is my baby. However, although the name is different the content remains the same.
The name change gave me another opportunity to reinvent the look of my educational tips and resource sharing home. I’ve designed, redesigned and designed again this new blog. I am sure it will go through a few more design changes as I add the last few components that are in my head. (Not to mention I have a thing about not leaving well enough alone. It’s a struggle, peeps!) But I LOVE that this new site is clean and simple and is a definite representation of me.
