The BEST Classroom Pencil Sharpener

The BEST Classroom Pencil Sharpener

The BEST classroom pencil sharpener? Hmm….

I’m skeptical. Often.

Although it serves its purpose, it’s not a good trait most of the time. Most often, someone recommending something is generally not enough for me to jump on board. Although it will pique my curiosity.

I was super, ridiculously, over the top skeptical about “The Classroom Friendly Pencil Sharpener” and whether or not I’d agree it was the the BEST classroom pencil sharpener.

Seriously, it looks a little like the one that I used to have hanging on my walls before I got this baby.

The Work Horse

I like my electric sharpener. I’ve gone through many. But this expensive baby has been pretty good. It’s big, strong, quick, makes pencils pretty sharp. It’s also loud, and can get messed up if the kids use it. It jams. Sometimes it even trips the little circuit breaker thingy on the outlet it is pugged into.

I don’t let anyone use it. No one but me. Ever. And only after school. Because it’s loud. Annoying. Disruptive. Β

I like fancy technology. How could a little ol’ manual pencil sharpener be something I would find useful? So skeptical.

But, I Was Curious!!

But I was also SOOOO curious. I mean, SUPER curious. So I finally went ahead and tried out one of the Quietest Pencil Sharpeners.

pencil sharpeners - assorted colors
Look at all of those colors!!!

When it arrived I ran around sharpening pencils. Asking everyone if THEY wanted to sharpen pencils. And they did! You know why? The dang thing is amazing. Seriously. Amazing.

sharpened pencil

Do you SEE how sharp that is?!!! Every single pencil I sharpened this afternoon looks like that. Perfect, HUGE, SHARP tips. That is a better point that my big ol’ electric super duper pencil sharpener can make. It even worked on the crappy pencils.

It took seconds. SECONDS!!!!!

That was my biggest concern. I even asked Troy when I emailed him… is it fast? He said yes. But I didn’t believe him. I was skeptical. I was also wrong. It is fast. It quickly sharpens pencils so they are SOOOOO pointy.

Oh Em Geee – It is seriously amazing. And ridiculously quiet. Fast, quiet, precise, the best sharpy-pointy-oh-my-be-careful-with-that-thing sharpener – EVER.

School-wide Conversion to “Old School” Made New…& Cute…& QUIET!

So after I went around to all the teachers in my building and they all said… “OK, I HAVE to have one. I’m buying one!” I said, “Wait let me go talk to Mr. Principal about a school-wide purchase!”

He sharpened his pencils. He immediately typed in www.classroomfriendlysupplies.com into his browser and said… “Wow. We could probably get one for everyone.” That fast. He also added….”and it is another thing we can do to ‘go green’.” I’m sure that will help the District approve the P.O.. Yay. Β

Oh, I have such happy friends now.

Can a $19.99 pencil sharpener affect your day? Yeah. I think it can.

You know why it works so great? A teacher invented it! ‘Nough said.Β It is truly the BEST classroom pencil sharpener I’ve ever tried!

I’ve decided I need a few more in my room. {I will totally let the kids use them – during class, even!} AND I need one at my house.

Seriously. I know you’re skeptical. I get it.  Go check out the classroom friendly pencil now! You will not be disappointed.

Have a fabulous Friday everyone!

Just ordered mine and I am going to fling my noisy, clogging, pencil breaking electric one out the window as soon as I get it!

I was still…naaah…can't afford to spend the money until you caught me on the "even works on crappy pencils"….and we have LOTS Of those that literally get eaten after one round (looong round) of sharpening!

Hmm…does it make the pencil even on all sides? That's one of my biggest questions….noise, speed, even on all sides, works on crappy pencils…if it meets all these, I might be asking one for my birthday in March! LOL

It does make the pencil even on all sides. I can email you a picture of the billions of crappy pencils I sharpened, if you'd like. They all still look like crap… but with sharp, wonderful points! πŸ˜€

I really didn't think I'd like it better than my electric one, but I do!

Love this sharpener. . . my story is VERY similar to yours in that I had to share this sharpener with my principal last August because I was sooo crazy about it! And he bought one for the entire staff!!
After so many years of trying various electric sharpeners, I can honestly say none compare to this non-electric sharpener. It is simply the best!! (and I had to have one at home too. . . )

Okay, I know it's been awhile since you posted this, but I actually got a FREE one to use in my classroom! However, I feel like I am totally inept! I can't get it to sharpen right and I thought, at first, I had broken the thing! πŸ™ Is there a trick you use? One of my boys is ALL over it and has "a trick" which I can't figure out (and yes, he's one of those that this is a GREAT distraction for him versus bullying other children!)…..anyway, any hints this way would be great! I WANT to so much make this work! πŸ™‚ If you need to, email me:

Oh no! I will email you. There really is no trick. SUPER SIMPLE to use. All of my teacher friends keep stealing mine while they wait for our school-wide P.O. to go through.
