No Time to Reinvent the Wheel! I Appreciate You!
You work hard.
Your day is composed of SO much more than teaching curriculum. Instilling smarts into your little peep’s minds is just a fraction of your job.
This career path is not easy. But no one said it would be. We definitely didn’t choose this avenue in life for its ease.
It IS amazingly rewarding! Even if that reward is not a financial one.
Teaching speaks to your creativity and enthusiasm. It answers your need to help and spread love and compassion.
The dedication it requires leaves you exhausted, yet fulfilled.
The only thing it doesn’t offer is time. There simply is never enough time. The struggle is real.
On this little blog I try to share what I’ve learned over the years about simplifying in order to grab a few more precious minutes. But I will be the first to admit – that whole “the clock keeps ticking” thing is difficult.
Most evenings I am sitting on the couch doing something for work. My husband often says “Can I get you something?” as he walks into the kitchen.
My answer, more often than not, is “Yeah, an extra hour.”
I am ALWAYS trying to figure out ways to squeeze more hours into my day. That usually results in less sleeping hours – but they’ve gotta come from somewhere… right?
Are you nodding your head?
No, I haven’t found any secrets on how to affect the space/time continuum. I can, however, help you avoid reinventing the wheel.
During this teacher appreciation week I want to remind you that you are appreciated and that your time is valuable. I want to share some of my favorite Essential Teacher Resources with you. They definitely make my job easier. One of the absolutely amazing things about getting resources on Teachers Pay Teachers is they save you time. I use my resources in my classroom, they are standards based, kid tested and approved, are effective and engaging while providing rigor which can be quite time zapping to plan and create on daily basis without a little help!
Essential Teacher Resources Heading into Summer
As we finish out the year, we will be studying the ocean habitat. Here is what is happening in my class over the next 6 weeks.
We will be WRITING THROUGH the SEA – with a whole lot of super engaging and fun writing lessons that accompany some adorable ocean themed crafts.
A lot of what is written during this time will be assessed for the kiddos’ report cards. We use the WRITING and GRAMMAR ASSESSMENTS to help make that task EASY!
Our word work area is already filled with OCEAN’S OF FUN word-work games. Our independent ELA activities are ocean and summer themed, too!
