A Lucky Feelin’ St. Patrick’s Day!
Today we started celebrating St. Patrick’s Day a little early.
We’ll probably “celebrate” a little all week. I share my birthday with St. Patrick’s Day so I tend to collect “St. Patricky” things and love to do them in class!
We did a writing lesson about lucky things.
After discussing lucky things and how the concept of what is lucky varies from person to person and is, in fact, often a matter of opinion – we set off to write a plan for an opinion/expository paragraph.
My kids do this type of writing every week, so they are very quick. These lessons are designed to last up to a week, but very often my kiddos can complete a quick, detailed and specific lengthy paragraph on a topic in just one day’s writing block. Here’s a sample plan. Ours are generally far more detailed – but this is a typical starting place.
I really wanted to get to the craft today (always the culminated – rewarding – activity) so we just buzzed right along.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, peeps!
