Throwback Thursday with Neat Printing
I’m linking up with Cara for Throwback Thursday.
I wrote this post in September of 2011. I harp on my kiddos a lot about their printing. It makes a HUGE difference in writing ability when both the teacher AND the student can actually read what is written. If you’ve been following me for a while you know that I absolutely LOVE teaching writing. It all starts with legibility. This little poem is a huge helper to keep the basics of printing neatly on a constant loop running through their heads.
It seems I could remind my kids a thousand times a day that each sentence needs a capital at the beginning and punctuation at the end. This year my revamped posters are getting a lot more attention in hopes that it will drive the point home a little more effectively and quickly. Time will tell. 🙂
I also wrote a poem about penmanship. THIS has REALLY helped. I AM LOVING IT!!! We refer to it, recite it, and discuss various chunks of it all of the time. I really think it is the smartest change/addition I’ve made to my classroom in the longest time. Seriously, I LOVE IT! The kids are working harder than ever to form their letters correctly.
