Summer Writing Fun
How many of you are teaching summer school this summer?
I normally steer clear of that craziness. But this summer I had EVERY intention of doing just that.
Then our district eliminated all summer school. Bummer. 🙁
Anyhoo… I know several of you are year-round, non-traditional schedule, homeschool, end super late in the year or summer school teachers who are still working your tails off.
I made a 19-page summer-themed writing unit that has 2-different writing activities (1 expository and 1 narrative) and a firefly-firework craftivity.
Since it’s still summer when we go back, I’ll be using them at the beginning of the year next school year. In the unit there are samples of how to use the lessons in an end of the year 1st grade or a 2nd grade classroom – but they can easily be modified for K or beginning of the year 1st.
Isn’t he cute? I am obsessed with fireflies. Do you have fireflies dancing around the night sky where you live? We don’t have them here. (I may actually save this lesson for when we read about them in our ELA anthology next year. Reading “A Firefly for Nathan” each year is the closest I’ve ever been to a firefly!)
